Hello!
I hope you all had a lovely half-term and are ready for an exciting Autumn 2!
Here is the key information for this half-term:
- Curriculum map: Autumn 2 Curriuculum Map
- History knowledge organiser:WW1 KO
- Topic homework: WW1 Topic Homework
- Science knowledge organiser: Changes Of Materials KO
- Spelling overview: Year 5 Spelling Term 1b Overview
Extra information for this half-term:
- Our PE days will be Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure your child has the correct Crossdale PE kit in school for these days.
- Please bring back any old reading books (book band and Challenge Tree books) that have been read over half-term. We will ensure all children swap their books and bring a new one home during the first week back.
Homework tasks continue to be:
- Topic homework (attached above). This will be due on the last Tuesday of this half-term (16.12.25) where we will have our topic showcase afternoon!
- Reading Journals- due on Fridays
- My Maths- due on Fridays
- Spellings- DoodleSpell assignment and Spelling columns (due Mondays)
- TTRS- continuous practice (it is recommended that children login to TTRS 3-4 times a week for around 10 minutes).
Plenty of stamps will continue to be awarded to those who complete these homework tasks each week!
Homework Club will continue to run on Fridays during lunchtime for around 15 minutes. This is a chance for children who haven’t managed to complete their MyMaths or Reading Journal tasks to catch up. I’ll be available to support them during this time.
It’s really helpful for children to develop good homework routines, as the tasks set are designed to reinforce the learning we’ve been doing in class and support their progress.
We share our Reading Journals together during Book Club on Friday mornings. This is a lovely opportunity for children to discuss their answers to their fluency text question and talk about what they’ve been reading. When everyone has their journal ready, it makes the discussion more meaningful and enjoyable for the whole class.
School trip this half-term
As part of our History topic all about Keyworth and WW1, Year 5 will be taking a trip to the Keyworth War Memorial and Keyworth Church on Monday 10th November. We will be leaving school at around 9:30am and will arrive back for about 11:40am. If there are any parents who are able to help during the morning then it would be much appreciated! Please either email me via the office or catch me on the playground if you’re able to help.
Have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you all next week!
Miss Spencer
