We have been super busy in Y5 recently!

In Science, we have been learning all about the changes that materials can go through. We have learned all about dissolving, reversible and non-reversible changes, separating mixtures and thermal conduction and insulation.

Last week, the children conducted an experiment to identify which material is the best insulator out of foil, rubber and cotton. We wrapped 3 containers in hot water and measured the temperature every 5 minutes. We also had a container that was our ‘control’ where no material was used. We recorded our results and will discuss and analyse our findings this week!

In Computing, the children have been learning about coding. Last week, the children explored morse code. They had a go at writing their names in morse code! It was quite tricky but they persevered well!

In English, we have been learning all about information texts. Y5 have been learning the text map of Tree Giants (see photo below). They performed this amazingly during our class assembly!

Thanks again to all grown ups who came to watch Y5’s class assembly last Friday!
