It has been an egg-citing week at Crossdale, and we’re thrilled to share the news that our chicks have officially hatched!
Last Wednesday, after days of careful watching, the children were delighted to see the eggs crack open and tiny, fluffy chicks emerge. It was a magical moment for the class, and the children have shown great curiosity and care throughout the process.
A Week of Learning and Responsibility
This week, the chicks have grown in confidence—and so have the children! We’ve been able to gently hold them, learning how to handle animals responsibly and respectfully. The children have asked thoughtful questions and made brilliant observations about how the chicks move, eat, and behave.
What We’ve Been Learning
Through this experience, we have been exploring:
- Life cycles and how animals grow and change
- Responsibility when caring for living things
- Scientific observation skills, including noticing features and changes
- Empathy and teamwork, as they share the role of looking after the chicks
It has been wonderful to see how engaged and enthusiastic the children are. Many have already chosen their favourite chick and enjoy checking in on them throughout the day!
What’s Next
The chicks will stay with us a little longer while they continue to grow. We’ll keep you updated on any new developments, and we’ll be sure to share photos and videos so you can experience the journey alongside us.
Thank you for your continued support—we are incredibly proud of how gentle and caring the children have been!
