Hello,
I’m a little early sending this week – but it is good to be organised!
*Our trip is now confirmed to the Ruddington Framework Knitters Museum on Monday 6th October. I have emailed parent helpers so you should have received that.
*Please remember to book in to parents evening via the arbor app.
Spellings this week: Week 3 spellings – endings /ing/, /ed/ and /er/. This is actually super helpful for our reading as well as we have been working on chunking words into the root word and then adding the ending. Our words are: hunting, hunted, hunter, buzzed, buzzer, buzzing, jumping, jumper, jumper, cracker. Please complete week 3 worksheet of your spelling in the homework pack and login to doodlespell to play some games with those words. The new words will be available from Monday as that is when we do our first teach with those words. The overlearning of spelling is really helpful to reading so your child’s reading skills will be progressing at the same time, too! Don’ forget to find the homework spelling sheet in your pack.
Reading: Please ask your child to read and re-read the books from school. Re-reading is a key element to your child making the pathways to learn the sounds and words. Our book swap days are Monday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has their books to return in their hand so that we can quickly receive those in the morning. Thank you for reminding your child to carry their water bottles to help us avoid spillages and water damage.
Maths: Please try to use doodle maths regularly to stay in the green zone and complete the assignments set. At the moment, we are 1st overall in the school – well done Robins! We are so proud of you all!
Topic homework: We have given you your topic homework menu sheet in the printed pack that came home at the start of time but you can also find an online version on our ‘key information’ blog. Please choose one activity to do with your child for this half term and bring it in for the showcase lesson in October.
See you on Monday.
Mrs Jones
