Hello,
Another great week at Crossdale with ‘Sign Language’ week. Year 1 have learnt to sign some animals and the rest of the school have been busy learning other signs to show us in our assembly next week.
As we look to next week, please remember that our trip to the church in the village is on Monday afternoon. Please ensure you have consented to this on arbor and filled the form in. Thank you to our parent helpers who have offered to help this afternoon – always hugely appreciated.
Next week also brings parents evening on Tuesday and Thursday – we look forward to sharing your child’s interim report with you then and updating you on their progress.
We have sent phonics and reading assessments emails to all parents this week now that our assessments are complete. We hope you find all the information useful. There are video links attached to help you support your child with their next steps.
Spellings next week: Week 5 spellings. This week our words have the ‘oo’ sound made with the letters ‘oo’. Our words are: food, pool, moon, soon, zoo, book, took, foot, wood and good. Please complete week 5 worksheet of your spelling in the homework pack next week and login to doodlespell to play some games with those words. The new words will be available from Monday.
Reading: Please try to re-read books to help build fluency, speed and understanding. We are reminding lots of children to ‘Fred in their head’ rather than blending every word – this might be a useful phrase to use at home. Re-reading the same book 3-5 times is recommended.
Next week, as usual, we will swap books on Monday and Thursday. Thank you for reminding your child to carry their water bottles to help us avoid spillages and water damage.
Maths: Please login to doodle and complete your daily quick fire questions plus any assignments you have outstanding. Try to stay in the green zone by logging in every day.
Topic homework showcase lesson: please send homework in by Tuesday to share with the rest of the class for our special homework session. We look forward to seeing this – Robin class homework standard has been amazing!
