Hello,

We have had a great week back after half term – the children have been really focussed and really excited to be back.

There is a key information blog update so you can find all of our curriculum coverage, homework and knowledge organisers for the half term ahead leading to Easter. If you haven’t looked at that yet, please do so that you know what is coming this (short) half term.

Please note, there will be two lovely trips: our library visit next week  and our trip to the church linking to RE (Easter). Please send your child’s library card in on Monday so that we have these ready for our trip on Tuesday 3rd March. *Parent helpers: we are due to be at the library at 2pm so I would like you to come for 1:30pm so that I can talk you through our risk assessment, get our high vis jackets on and have a practise at crossing the road on the front playground. I really appreciate all of your offers of help, thank you!

Spellings next week: Week 2 spellings – the split vowel digraphs: a-e and e-e. Our words are: made, came, same, take, safe, date, lake, these, theme, complete. Please complete week 2 worksheet of your spelling in the homework pack next week and login to doodlespell to play some games with those words. The new words will be available from Monday.

Reading: Please try to re-read books to help build fluency, speed and understanding. We are reminding lots of children to ‘Fred in their head’ rather than blending every word – this might be a useful phrase to use at home. Re-reading the same book 3-5 times is recommended.

Please ensure your child has their books to return in their hand on Monday morning so that we can quickly receive those. Next week, as usual, we will swap books on Monday and Thursday. Thank you for reminding your child to carry their water bottles to help us avoid spillages and water damage.

Maths: Please login to doodle and complete your daily quick fire questions plus any assignments you have outstanding. Try to stay in the green zone by logging in every day.

We had our first topic lesson about ‘How can one person make a difference?’ and the children loved exploring the terms ‘fair’ and ‘not fair’. Please begin thinking about our next topic homework and the project you will choose to do – they are very excited to see what we will learn about next week. Please choose one activity to do with your child for this half term. The homework tasks have been created to give children lots of choice and we have been so impressed with the work you have already completed together.

See you next week,

Mrs Jones
