Hello,
The weather certainly seems to have changed with December and winter looming. It is also an incredibly exciting time! On Monday we have lots of Christmas stories wrapped up to choose from so each day we will unwrap one and enjoy a story together during milk time.
As our concert approaches, we remind you to please send Christmas clothes in for our concert and practise singing our Y1 song at home if you wish. Previous blog has youtube link and information about clothes to bring.
Spellings this week: Week 5 spellings – the digraphs ‘ea’ (building on ‘ee’ and ‘e’ from last week. Our words are: sea, dream, meat, each, scream, read, head, bread, meant, instead. Please complete week 5 worksheet of your spelling in the homework pack and login to doodlespell to play some games with those words. The new words will be available from Monday.
Reading: Please ask your child to read and re-read the books from school. Re-reading is a key element to your child making the pathways to learn the sounds and words. Next week, as usual, we will swap books on Monday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has their books to return in their hand so that we can quickly receive those in the morning. Thank you for reminding your child to carry their water bottles to help us avoid spillages and water damage.
Maths: Mrs Morgan has sent an email to remind you to log in daily, if possible, to work on short maths questions and assignments to help reinforce the learning we have covered in school.
Topic homework: You will have your topic homework menu sheet in the printed pack that came home at parent’s evening but you can also find an online version on our ‘key information’ blog. Please choose one activity to do with your child for this half term and bring it in for the showcase lesson in December.
See you on Monday.
Mrs Jones
