The Robins took a stroll through the deep dark wood….
What a fabulous trip to Beaumanor Hall we had on Friday. We were extremely lucky with the weather and enjoyed a day of warm sunshine as we spent the entire day outside doing lots of fun activities based on the book, The Gruffalo.
First, the children explored the Gruffalo wood keeping our eyes out for all the characters and finding their prints along the way. We also hunted for minibeast, and some made a minibeast hotel. As we came to the end of the wood, the children were so excited to find the Gruffalo hiding in his cave! Bravely, we all looked inside but left him peacefully relaxing in his cave. After a mid-morning drink and a snack, the Robins had fun on the Gruffalo park. After all that exercise, we were ready for lunch on the Beaumanor Hall lawn. What a lovely backdrop!
After lunch, we headed to the amazing Yew tree. It was a beautiful shady area with lots of hanging branches, perfect for den building. With help from our super parent helpers, the children made their dens, used torches, and made Gruffalo shakers to scare the Gruffalo away, just in case he appeared! We then found a letter from the park keeper, asking for help to find the animals and to have a Gruffalo tea party. The animals were hidden all over the garden which the children loved finding them. Some of the children wrote a letter back to the park keeper too telling him they had found them and had a lovely party. The children also made different animal prints in the giant sandpit.
It was a fabulous ending to a fabulous day. The children were impeccably behaved (as usual!) and were a credit to Crossdale. Thank you to the parent helpers too. Without your support the trip would not happen, and by the look of it, you enjoyed the day as much as the children!
Thank you so much Robin class, parents, Mrs Oliver and Mrs Szymkiw!
