It has been such an exciting week in Year 1 as we’ve been carefully watching the eggs in our incubator – and even more excitingly, seeing them hatch into fluffy little chicks! The children have been absolutely fascinated, checking in each day to see what has changed and talking endlessly about which egg they think will hatch next.

Alongside our daily chick-watch, we’ve been learning all about the lifecycle of a chicken. The children have enjoyed comparing this to other lifecycles too, such as frogs, butterflies, and even humans, noticing similarities and differences between how living things grow and change.

We’ve had lots of thoughtful conversations, wonderful questions, and some very proud little scientists!

As we head into the weekend, we’re already wondering how much our chicks will have grown by Monday. We can’t wait to see how they’ve changed and to spend more time observing them.
