Welcome to Year 2!
A huge welcome to all of our lovely Year 2 children and families!
We hope you’ve all had a fantastic summer and are feeling ready for a brilliant year ahead. We’re so excited to get to know the children, hear all about their summer adventures and settle into life in Year 2 together.
There is lots to look forward to this year! The children will have plenty of opportunities to learn, explore and challenge themselves, while becoming even more confident and independent along the way. We can’t wait to see their personalities shine, celebrate their achievements and watch them grow throughout the year.
Most importantly, we want Year 2 to be a happy, exciting and positive experience for every child. We’re looking forward to making lots of special memories together and working in partnership with you to support your children throughout the year.
We’d also love to see you at our Welcome Meeting on Tuesday 8th September at 5pm. This will be a chance for us to introduce ourselves, chat about what Year 2 has in store and share some useful information for the year ahead. There will also be plenty of opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
To help you prepare for the first half term, I have attached some useful documents.
Autumn 1 Curriculum Map – Autumn Curriuculum Map (Cycle B)
Autumn 1 Science Knowledge Organiser – What Do Our Bodies Need To Survive KO
We will share a Key Information Blog like this at the start of each half term so that you can stay up to date with your child’s learning and any important class information.
Spelling Overview
Also attached is our spelling overview for this half term. Each week, children will learn 10 new spelling words during our spelling sessions. These words will build on the children’s phonics knowledge and help them to develop their spelling skills and confidence.

I am looking forward to getting to know all of the children and making Year 2 a fantastic year!
Best wishes,
Miss Lloyd
