Year 1 have had a great week and have loved learning our new class text, Awongalema. The story tells of an old African tree that won’t produce any fruit for the animals until they find out it’s name. To get us inspired, we went outside to explore one of our old trees and think about what we would name it. Year 1 had some great suggestions!

When we returned to the classroom, the children did a fantastic job of exploring how the animals moved. Some children were even able to take on the role of different animals and answer questions in a hot-seating task.

We are looking forward to sharing the story with you during our class assembly on Friday 30th January.
