Hello Owl Class,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a lovely Christmas holiday and are ready for a new half-term in Year 5! I also wanted to say a huge thank you for all my lovely cards and gifts. They are much appreciated!

Maths KIRFS (Key Instant Recall Facts)- a physical copy will be sent home.

PE- Our PE days will be Monday mornings and Friday afternoons. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school for these days. Some children will be swimming on Thursday afternoons. You should have been contacted if your child is swimming. If your child is swimming, please ensure they have their swimming kit in school on Thursdays.

Homework tasks continue to be:

  • Topic homework (attached above). This will be due on the last Tuesday of this half-term (10.2.26) where we will have our topic showcase afternoon!
  • Reading Journals- due on Fridays
  • My Maths- due on Fridays
  • Spellings- DoodleSpell assignment and Spelling columns (due Mondays)
  • TTRS- continuous practice (it is recommended that children login to TTRS 3-4 times a week for around 10 minutes).

Plenty of stamps will continue to be awarded to those who complete these homework tasks each week!

Homework Club will continue to run on Fridays during lunchtime for around 15 minutes. This is a chance for children who haven’t managed to complete their MyMaths tasks to catch up. I’ll be available to support them during this time.

It’s really helpful for children to develop good homework routines, as the tasks set are designed to reinforce the learning we’ve been doing in class and support their progress.

Upcoming trip:

On Friday 6th February, we will be taking a trip to Keyworth Primary School for the WonderDome. This is a mobile planetarium that brings the wonders of space right to us! Inside the dome, we’ll take a journey through the solar system, explore the planets, and discover amazing facts about stars and galaxies. It’s going to be a fantastic opportunity to experience space in a whole new way, and we can’t wait to share what we learn! More information will be shared with you soon.

Other information:

  • Please bring back any reading books and Challenge Tree Books as children will have time to swap these during the first week back.

Miss Spencer 🙂
