Last week, we had a fantastic learning adventure during our trip to Sainsbury’s! The children were full of curiosity and enthusiasm as we explored where our food comes from and how it makes its way to the shelves in our local supermarket.

We talked about the journey of food—from farms and factories to delivery trucks and finally to the shop. It was amazing to see how many steps are involved in getting our everyday items ready for us to buy!

As we walked through the aisles, we discussed different types of food and their nutrients. The children learned how fruits and vegetables give us vitamins, how proteins help our muscles grow, and how carbohydrates give us energy. We even linked this to our learning about James Lind, the pioneer who discovered that citrus fruits could prevent scurvy—a perfect connection to our science and history lessons!

A huge thank you to all the parent helpers who made this trip possible. Your support helped create a rich and memorable experience for the children, blending real-world exploration with classroom learning.

We’re already looking forward to our next adventure!
