Hello,
I hope you are all having a good weekend.
If you didn’t see the photos from our new class text, Monkey See, Monkey Do, take a look at the blog Mrs Morgan put on from Friday. I can’t wait to teach the children more about this next week.
So proud of how the children are working so hard on their handwriting. We have had a real push on this since the beginning of term and we are such you will see a big difference when you come and see their books at open evening.
That hard work shows with what you are doing at home – we are TOP doodlers for maths and spelling! Fantastic work, Robins!
*Please remember to book in to parent’s evening via the arbor app if you have not already done so.
Spellings this week: Week 4 spellings – /nk/ and /ng/ words. All the children should be able to read these words now so they should have a go at reading these at speed, too. Our words are: bank, think, honk, sunk, wink, bunk, sing, string, hang, long. Please complete week 4 worksheet of your spelling in the homework pack and login to doodlespell to play some games with those words. The new words will be available from Monday as that is when we do our first teach with those words. The overlearning of spelling is really helpful to reading so your child’s reading skills will be progressing at the same time, too! Don’ forget to find the homework spelling sheet in your pack.
Reading: Just a quick reminder to please encourage your child to read and re-read their school books. Re-reading plays an important role in helping children build confidence with sounds and words. Our book swap days are Monday and Thursday, so please ensure your child brings their books in hand on those mornings to help us collect them quickly and smoothly. Also, thank you for continuing to remind your child to bring their water bottle each day — it really helps us avoid spills and keep books and belongings safe.
Maths: Please try to use doodle maths regularly to stay in the green zone and complete the assignments set. We can tell you are working hard at this which is just amazing!
Topic homework: We have given you your topic homework menu sheet in the printed pack that came home at the start of time but you can also find an online version on our ‘key information’ blog. Please choose one activity to do with your child for this half term and bring it in for the showcase lesson on Wednesday 15th October.
See you on Monday.
Mrs Jones
