Hello,

I hope you are having a great weekend and are feeling ready to start the new week.

Before I get into homework reminders, I just want to remind you of a couple of things happening in school this week:

*Please fill in the form for our provisional trip to Ruddington Framework Knitters on October 6th. At present, this trip is unable to run as we have not had enough responses. Thank you so much for all the offers of support and lifts – if you can organise these between yourselves and update us on transport for your child, we can hopefully let you know by the end of the week.

*Monday – lymphoma day. Children should be in full uniform with purple, green or gold accessories. We appreciate all your donations for this charity, thanks.

*Friday – INSET day so school is closed to pupils

Spellings this week: Week 2 spellings – the sounds /l/, /k/ and /z/ spelt like ‘ll, ‘ck’ and ‘zz’. Our words are: well, pull, full, wall, buzz, fizz, back, stick, flick pal. Please complete week 2 worksheet of your spelling in the homework pack and login to doodlespell to play some games with those words. The new words will be available from tomorrow as that is when we do our first teach with those words. The overlearning of spelling is really helpful to reading so your child’s reading skills will be progressing at the same time, too!

Reading: Please ask your child to read and re-read the books from school. Re-reading is a key element to your child making the pathways to learn the sounds and words. Our book swap days are Monday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has their books to return in their hand so that we can quickly receive those in the morning. Thank you for reminding your child to carry their water bottles to help us avoid spillages and water damage.

Maths: Please try to use doodle maths regularly to stay in the green zone and complete the assignments set. At the moment, we are 4th in the school and have just 33% of children doing this – it really makes a difference so well done if you are logging on daily.

Topic homework: We have given you your topic homework menu sheet in the printed pack that came home at the start of time but you can also find an online version on our ‘key information’ blog. Please choose one activity to do with your child for this half term and bring it in for the showcase lesson in October.

See you in the morning,

Mrs Jones
