As part of our geography fieldwork where we are exploring small-scale and large-scale farming practices, Year 5 children had an exciting and educational visit to The Keyworth Allotments!
As we wandered through the rows of vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers, the children listened attentively, learning about how plants grow and the importance of healthy soil. They eagerly asked questions, deepening their understanding of growing and looking after crops on a small scale. We learned all about the challenges that allotment holders face (including frosts, pests and lack of rain!) as well as how hard allotment holders work to grow and look after wonderful produce.
Thank you so much to John and Paul for hosting us, we thoroughly enjoyed it!
