What We’ve Been Learning This Week
English
This week, we have continued learning and retelling the story ‘Rosie’s Walk’. The children have been practising actions for time connectives such as first, then, next, after that and finally, as well as prepositions including across, around, under and through. We also drew characters from the story and created our own story maps.
Maths
Our focus in maths has been ‘counting’ and developing one-to-one correspondence. The children have enjoyed counting objects into egg boxes, playing skittles, counting musical beats and using maths wands to count larger objects. Keep practising counting at home if you can!
Topic
Our theme has been ‘Feelings’. Using the story The Colour Monster, we explored different emotions, acted them out and discussed how colours can represent feelings. We painted some fantastic Colour Monsters to show how we were feeling, with some children choosing one emotion and others representing a mixture of feelings.
PE
We had great fun taking part in the Great Athletes Event on Wednesday! The children enjoyed trying a range of exercises and helped raise lots of money. Well done, Kingfishers!
