We have had a fabulous start to Year 3!

In Maths, the children have been learning about place value. They have been using place value counters and place value charts to identify the hundreds, tens and ones in numbers. They have also been finding 1, 10 and 100 more or less than a given number.

In English, we have been learning all about setting descriptions. Year 3 have been learning our model text, The Garden, a portal story filled with rich and imaginative descriptions. We have explored what makes an effective setting description and have been practising different elements from our settings toolkit to help bring places to life in our writing. The children have worked incredibly hard and produced some fantastic pieces of writing. Take a look at some of their wonderful work!

In Computing, the children have been using Scratch to programme characters to move. Yesterday, they successfully made a character glide across the screen from one point to another using X and Y coordinates. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and growing confidence with coding!
