Hello,
We have had a super week getting stuck into our learning. This week the children have been working on place value in maths and have had an exciting hook lesson for our new text in English (Monkey See, Monkey Do) – which involves lots of hats and some very cheeky monkeys!
Reading
We swap our books on Mondays and Thursdays – please have books ready to pass over to staff then. Please try to listen to your child read their phonics book 3-5 times a week. The purple group have now moved on to pink book #1 and some children will have copies of the sounds we have covered in the last few weeks slotted into the books handed out yesterday. This is to help the children work on these speed sounds. The other pink group have not yet had their sound sheets (they have been working very hard reviewing sounds with longer words) – so they will bring their new sound sheets home in due course.
Spelling
This week is week 4 of our spellings. Our words this week all have the sounds “nk” and “ng” which is a great review and apply of the work they have done in phonics. Our ten words are: bank, think, honk, sunk, wink, bunk, sing, string, hang, long. There are games you can play on doodlespell or you can use the page in your homework pack for some written work.
Maths
Try completing the short doodle assignments and having a go at your 5 a day. More than half of the class are in the green zone and we are first on the whole school leader board which is fantastic. Fantastic effort, Sparrows!
