This week in DT, Year 3 became fantastic chefs as we designed and made our own sandwiches!
Before we started preparing our ingredients, we learnt how to use knives safely. We practised using the bridge hold, which helped us to cut foods safely by creating a bridge shape with our hand. We also used the claw grip, keeping our fingertips tucked away while holding food steady for chopping. Everyone worked really hard to use these techniques carefully and responsibly.
The children then prepared their ingredients, showing great concentration and excellent food hygiene. We chopped, sliced and assembled a variety of delicious fillings to create our sandwiches. It was wonderful to see everyone following their plans and making thoughtful choices about the ingredients they used.
Throughout the morning, the children demonstrated fantastic teamwork, independence and resilience. They took pride in their work and showed confidence when using the food preparation skills they had learnt.
The best part of the day was, of course, tasting our finished sandwiches! The children were very excited to try their creations and many agreed that they tasted delicious.
We are incredibly proud of the effort and enthusiasm shown by everyone. Well done, Year 3, for showing such excellent DT skills and for creating some fantastic sandwiches! 🥪⭐
