Hello,
We hope you have had a lovely week! Here are a few homework activities:
Activity 1: Phonics
Last week we were learning the sounds: i n p g o .
Here are 2 video links you can use to support your child learning ‘n’ and ‘p’, as the class found it tricky to write these letters – we struggles to come back up the letters after the initial first stroke going down.

Please also complete the practice sheets pack over the course of the week.
To complete:
- A) help your child to read the picture with the letter sound (tracing a finger over the letter helps too!)
- B) look at the pictures and identify the sound in the picture (nose, net, needle, necklace)
- C) letter writing practice (please remind your child of good pencil grip skills “pinch, flick and grip”)
- D) encourage your child to say the sound as they write
Here is a quick link as well to purchase the phonics flashcards to help support your child’s learning at home: https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/product/read-write-inc-home-phonics-flashcards-9780198386711/
Activity 2: Talk about our star words:
In our Understanding the World lessons last week, we talked about our community.
We learnt new star words
- community
- favourite
Please spend a few minutes talking about what these words mean e.g. “What helpful people have you seen in your community? What’s your favourite place to visit in Keyworth?”
These conversations help children deepen their understanding and learn new vocabulary.
Thank you very much for your support and enjoy your week,
Reception Team
