Hello,
We hope you have had a lovely week! Here are a few homework activities:

Activity 1.1: Phonics review
Previously, we were learning the sounds:  v   y   w  z .
Here is a video link you can use to support your child learning ‘x’, which is the final letter sound we will review this week.

Please also complete the practice sheets pack over the course of the week.
To complete:
A) help your child to read the picture with the letter sound (tracing a finger over the letter helps too!)

B) look at the pictures and identify the sound in the picture (nose, net, needle, necklace)

C) letter writing practice (please remind your child of good pencil grip skills “pinch, flick and grip”)

D) encourage your child to say the sound as they write

Activity 1.2: Phonics game
Another little Fred game – this time here’s one for the weather!

Activity 2: Talk about our star words:
In our previous Understanding the World lessons, we talked about the changing season.
We learnt new star words

  • Autumn
  • hibernation

Please spend a few minutes talking about what these words mean e.g. “Can we see any animals storing food this autumn?” “Why do some animals hibernate?”
These conversations help children deepen their understanding and learn new vocabulary.

Thank you very much for your support and enjoy your week,

Reception Team
