What Another Super Week Kingfisher Class Have Had!
English
This week in English, we innovated our own story based on Rosie’s Walk. Together, we created a new story called Dan the Brown Cat, which we can now confidently retell using words and actions:
One sunny day, Dan the brown cat went for a walk.
First, he walked across the yard.
Next, he walked around the pond.
Then, he walked over the haystack.
After that, he walked past the mill and squeezed through the fence.
Finally, he walked under the beehive and got back home in time for dinner.
The children have really enjoyed learning and retelling our new story.
Phonics
We have learnt five new sounds this week: e, l, h, r and j. It has been wonderful to see so many children sharing their phonics homework with us. Thank you for your continued support at home.
Maths
In our shape lessons, we explored circles and triangles. In our number work, we investigated the composition of 3 and 4, learning about the different ways these numbers can be made. For example, 3 can be made from 2 + 1, and 4 can be made from 1 + 1 + 1 + 1.
Handwriting
Our focus patterns this week were ‘jellies’ and ‘zigzags’. The children loved using chalk and ribbon sticks to practise these movements and develop their fine and gross motor skills.
Art
This week, we explored the work of the artist Kandinsky and created some fantastic artwork inspired by his style. We have put together a fabulous classroom display, which we look forward to sharing with you during parents’ evening next week.
Well done, Kingfishers! You have worked incredibly hard and should be very proud of all you have achieved this week.
