Today we went on our World War II experience day at Beaumanor Hall in Leicestershire. We began the day by donning our evacuee labels and boarding the coach. When we arrived we learnt all about evacuation, prepared our identity cards and planned some meals from wartime recipe books. We then learnt about the role of Beaumanor Hall in decoding messages from the enemy, and finished off by experiencing an air raid in the air raid shelter. We have learnt lots of exciting knowledge about this historical period to help kick-start our topic on World War II
