What a fantastic first two weeks at school! The Reception team are incredibly proud of how well the Kingfisher children are settling in, learning class routines and trying to follow our Crossdale Way.
This week, our All About Me topic focused on ‘families’. We enjoyed reading stories about different families and used our new star words, different and unique, to talk about how our families compare to others. The children drew family pictures, created collages, cared for our class dolls and enjoyed role-playing family life in the home corner.
The children have also loved getting to know one another through play, spending time building, sharing toys, exploring the water tray and enjoying our new mud kitchen restaurant.
We have begun our phonics lessons using the Read Write Inc picture sound cards. The children listened to and repeated sounds and picture prompts, such as “e egg”, “v vulture” and “p pirate”.
We have also started learning how to hold a pencil correctly using the “pinch, flick and grip” method. Perhaps your child can demonstrate this at home!
Alongside this, we have enjoyed Forest School, PE, and our first Music and Jigsaw (PSHE) lessons.
We hope you enjoy looking through our photos. Thank you to all families who have responded regarding permission for photographs to be used on the school website. If you have not yet done so, please contact the school office.
