Welcome to Year 3!

I hope you all had a wonderful summer break and have enjoyed spending time with family and friends. I am so excited to welcome Puffin Classs back and begin what promises to be a fantastic year of learning, growth and fun in Year 3!

Below, you will find some important information about our learning and routines for this half-term.

PE and Forest Schools

This term, our PE lessons will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days. Please note that children will not have PE tomorrow but will have their first Y3 PE lesson on Thursday afternoon (3.9.26). From next week, PE lessons will run on Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons.

Forest Schools will take place on Thursday afternoons, so please ensure your child has their Forest Schools kit in school for these lessons

Homework in Year 3

In Year 3, we ask children to complete the following homework activities:

  • Doodle Maths: One homework task will be set each Friday and should be completed by the following Friday.
  • Doodle Spell: A spelling assignment will be set each Monday and should be completed by the following Monday.
  • Spelling columns: Children will be sent home with a booklet containing all of the Year 3 spellings for this half-term. They can practice them using their spelling columns with ‘Look, cover, say, write, check’. These will be handed out next week.
  • Reading: Regular reading at home is one of the most important ways you can support your child’s learning. Children will receive a reading book within the first few days of term and can exchange it for a new one once they have finished. They will also have regular opportunities to choose books from our exciting Year 3 Challenge Tree!

All logins for online homework will be handed out over the next few days.
