Welcome to Kingfisher Class

Dear Kingfisher Families,

The Reception team is delighted to welcome you to Crossdale Primary School, and we are very much looking forward to welcoming your children to school on Wednesday 2 September.

Our Reception staff team consists of:

  • Mrs Rodriguez (Class Teacher, Monday to Wednesday)
  • Miss Marshall (Class Teacher, Thursday and Friday)
  • Mrs Oliver (Teaching Assistant, Monday, Tuesday and Friday)
  • Mrs Phoenix (Teaching Assistant, Wednesday and Thursday)

Starting school is an important and exciting milestone in a child’s development. We are committed to ensuring that every child feels happy, secure, and confident as they settle into school life. We are also looking forward to building positive relationships with our families and working together to support your child’s learning and development throughout the year.

Overview of Learning

To give you an insight into the term ahead, we have attached below the Reception Curriculum Map for the Autumn term. Our first topic, ‘All About Me’, will help the children get to know one another, develop confidence, and begin their learning journey at Crossdale in a fun and engaging way.

We would also like to invite you to our Reception Welcome Meeting on Monday 7 September at 5.00 pm. During the meeting, we will share key information about the year ahead, explain our routines and expectations, and answer any questions you may have. We hope you can join us and look forward to meeting you all.

Ideas for Supporting Learning at Home

We hope your child has enjoyed completing their All About Me Book. We always love reading these books, as they provide a wonderful opportunity for children to share information about themselves, their interests, and their families with their new classmates and teachers.

If you have not yet received an All About Me Book, please let a member of the Reception team know and we will be happy to provide one for your child to complete.

Over the coming weeks, the children will begin learning their first letter sounds. To support this learning, we will send home weekly activities and provide links to short videos so that children can revisit and practise the sounds in a fun and engaging way at home.

Thank you for your support as we begin this exciting year together. We cannot wait to welcome the children into Kingfisher Class and help them take their first steps on their Crossdale learning journey.

Kind regards,

The Reception Team
