Hello,
Welcome back – we hope you have had a great break and ready for this last half term of Year 1. The year has flown and we have just 8 weeks remaining now before the Robins fly to Year 2!
PE kits – well done to all the children for coming in PE kits today. A quick reminder that cycling shorts are not part of our PE uniform. We expect children to wear:
- a white round necked t-shirt or any other plain white t-shirt*
- burgundy shorts (no logos)
- appropriate footwear – trainers or plimsolls
- a plain, dark coloured tracksuit or leggings for the colder months
Next week (as a one off), children have PE on Tuesday and Thursday due to a day swap with staff. Therefore they should wear their PE kit on those days next week.
Next week we begin our Phonics Screening Check. We will take children one at a time to complete this and we will update you in their end of year report (we do not yet know what the pass mark will be so we are unable to say at this point if they have passed the check).
If you haven’t yet seen the information from our phonics screening meeting, please take a look at this blog here: Phonics Screening Check Meeting – Crossdale Primary School
Spellings this week: Week 1 spellings. This week our words /ph/ and /wh/ Our words are: dolphin, alphabet, phonics, elephant, when, where, which, wheel, while, white. Please complete week 1 worksheet of your spelling in the homework pack and login to doodlespell to play some games with those words. We are giving lots of stamps out for children who complete assignments! Well done.
Reading: Please return all school books you have read. We sent lots out before the holidays but we didn’t have many returned today. Our supplies in school are dwindling so we really appreciate your help in looking after our books well and returning them when you have read them.
The children will have new books to take home on Monday and Thursday this week. Please try to re-read books to help build fluency, speed and understanding. Re-reading the same book 3-5 times is recommended.
Maths: We have set some new assignments for you on doodle; please login to doodle and complete your daily quick fire questions. Try to stay in the green zone by logging in every day.
Have a great week!
Mrs Jones
