New September start date for pupils: 7th September
Dear Parents,
We have recently had funding confirmed to carry out extensive improvements to our school over the summer holidays. This funding will allow us to replace the heating system across the entire school. In conjunction with the new double glazing and insulated roof we have had installed in recent years, this will ensure the building is comfortable and warm for the children at Crossdale.
Although we are delighted to be in a position to carry out these improvements, the allocation of funding and project planning have been significantly delayed due to the Covid-19 situation. In fact, the engineers and designers are still finalising the details of the project. The planned works are extensive and likely to cause significant disruption and upheaval. As a result, school governors have taken the decision to delay the date that children return to school in September until Monday 7th September.
Delaying the start of term by 2 days for children will give staff time to ensure the school building and site are fully prepared and safe. We do acknowledge that this situation may cause parents some inconvenience, but given the extent of the planned works, governors believe the delay is essential to ensure adequate preparation takes place prior to pupils returning.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Regards,
Peter Cresswell
To help mark the children's last day in school this academic year, we will be allowing the children to come to school in non-uniform:
We are aware that there may be a significant number of people in our community whose financial circumstances will have changed due to the current pandemic and job losses. Holiday times can also be very difficult and applying for benefits can take time and leave many struggling to manage their budget.
The Keyworth Community Projects group have been receiving kind donations to enable us to help those in our community who are in need of support at this time.
We have previously been offering this assistance through your school but if you need support during the school holidays please get in touch with us direct. Feel free to email us and we will do what we can to help: keyworthcp@gmail.com
Check what benefit entitlement you are entitled to. The entitledto benefits calculator will check which means-tested benefits you may be entitled to e.g. tax credits, universal credit, housing benefit … |
PS You may also find the following contact details useful - Keyworth Advice Centre telephone is 07789 320396, opening hours Tuesdays 1-4 pm, email advice.keyworth@gmail.com
PPS You can request a food package this week by contacting Mr Cresswell using contact@crossdale.notts.sch.uk - this will be the last week that school is involved in distributing help.
Our planned class structure from September will be:
Although this is our planned structure, parents should be aware that the likelihood of us having to alter the structure is higher than in a typical year; we are not currently able to confirm the availability of all staff for September. As ever, we will update you asap if necessary.
Many thanks in advance for your understanding and support.
Please could we ask parents / carers to please be mindful of drop-off and pick-up times.
Keyworth Community Projects are still in a position to help those in our community who are in need of support at this difficult time. We are aware that there will be a significant number of families whose financial circumstances will have changed due to the current situation. We do not want any families to be struggling with food bills when there is something that we can do to help.
We are working with Mr Cresswell at Crossdale School to help co-ordinate this project which ensures that all information will be retained within school and remain confidential.
We are able to issue food parcels to families containing tinned and fresh supplies.
If you would like to request help, please email Mr Cresswell at contact@crossdale.notts.sch.uk and we will work together to get this delivered to you. We have a limited number of supplies available but we will aim to help every family who get in touch with us.
Please let us know no later than 9am on Thursday.
Kind regards,
Keyworth Community Project
Many of you may now be aware that a non-teaching member of staff at Keyworth Primary School has a confirmed case of Covid-19.
Over the weekend, I have consulted with Public Health England and followed their advice in full. Accordingly, Keyworth Primary will be open to pupils as normal on Monday.
There is no impact on Crossdale as a result of this positive test, but I wanted to keep you informed as I am aware that information is circulating on social media.
The information sent to parents at Keyworth Primary can be found here if you would like to read it.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Kind regards,
Peter Cresswell

After 7 years doing a brilliant job to promote sport and physical activity at Crossdale, Mr Sanders has decided the time is right to focus on his football coaching and being a dad. We have not yet agreed a date for him to leave Crossdale, and he has offered to continue to work part time while we induct a new sports lead, but we wanted to keep you informed as you will doubtless be as sad to see him leave as we are. You all know how much he will be missed.
Once we have appointed a new sports lead and agreed a date for Mr Sanders to leave us, we'll let you know so we can say goodbye and thank you properly!
