SCHOOL CLOSURE

1st March 2018 - School Closed

With extreme weather forecast for Friday 2nd March also, we will review our ability to open safely from 6am tomorrow and aim to inform parents no later than 7.30am.

WInter conditions at Crossdale

Unlike other schools in Keyworth, Crossdale is not situated on a road that is typically gritted by Nottinghamshire County Council during unusually cold and icy conditions. Over the years we have occasionally had to close the school when the roads around the school have been dangerously icy and slippy. Most of the risks associated with these conditions can be mitigated if motorists avoid Adams Hill and Crossdale Drive. Adams Hill can become especially treacherous if untreated – we have seen several small accidents on Adams Hill over the years when cars have slid backwards and off the road, or into other vehicles.

Therefore, in order to minimise the risk of pedestrians or motorists being injured near Crossdale School we would ask that, during icy and dangerous conditions, motorists aim to park up before reaching Adams Hill and complete their journey on foot. Obviously, this means some families will need to plan to leave 5-10 minutes earlier than normal.

We would greatly appreciate your support with this as it will allow us to keep the school open secure in the knowledge that we are not placing the children at significant risk. Please pop in if you have any questions.
