School Closure for Elections - UPDATE 3

As previously communicated to parents, school will be closed for polling on the 2nd May 2019.

The council have now confirmed that  European Elections will take place on the 23rd May.  As such, Crossdale will be closed on that day also.

If you require childcare on the 2nd May, Windmills will be offering a subsidised childcare facility in the Hive. Contact  admin@windmillschildcare.com (07598335424) for more information. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. We cannot offer additional childcare on the 23rd May.

Several parents have queried why Crossdale has to close for elections. We have had extensive talks with the council about finding alternate venues, with their last communication, in August 2018, concluding, ' following extensive discussions this end we have decided not to pursue changing the polling place for the Keyworth North ward at this time. For the foreseeable future it will remain at Crossdale Primary.'

There is the potential to use part of the school for polling whilst allowing most children to come to school as normal. However, this would raise safeguarding concerns and would exacerbate existing parental concerns raised by traffic and road safety. In spite of this, we will continue to consider ways of keeping school open when polling is taking place.
