Y6 Homework & Spellings - 9/11/18

Homework and spellings for Y6 - Friday 9/11/18

We have had a brilliant week. It has been such a genuine pleasure to see the children come back to school with a very apparent appetite for work and for challenge. We have done some brilliant reading lessons where we have focused on finding exactly the right piece of information. We have also been pushing ourselves in maths where we have been looking at missing number problems.

For homework, I'd like the children to get a bit more practice writing sentences - using this week's spelling words.  The children should write at least eight (proper Y6) sentences and should spend around 20 minutes on this part of their homework.  I have also added a few missing number problems so they can show off their mathematical whizziness!

As ever, if they are unsure of how to get started on the home work, or they are finding it challenging, I am very happy to find some time to work with them on Monday or Tuesday.

I've also set more more MyMaths - focussed on tables revision.

We had a chat about our Reading Record Books today and I've reminded the children that these should be coming into school every day and that we are expecting them to be writing in them at least 4 times most weeks. Their grown-ups should sign or initial at least once a week. (This is very useful practice for secondary school, where children will often be required to get planners signed each week.)

I'm hoping to get an initial trip letter out next week - in case it is helpful to budget for this / spread the payments out.

Have a great weekend.
