Welcome to Y6 - Oak Class!
Welcome back and reminder about meeting for parents next Wednesday 12th September.
We've had a brilliant first couple of days back in school. I have been very genuinely impressed with the excellent attitudes that have been evident from all of the children in Y6. The children have been settling back into school really well and I have been delighted to see the way they have been getting involved in our discussions and lessons.
As well as our work in art (which is centred on the Tour of Britain and the art of Michael Valenti), the children have been looking forward to the year ahead and identifying their own personal targets which will help them have a successful year. It was great to see how insightful they were about themselves as learners.
This afternoon, Thursday, the children worked with Jane Price from Little Mouse Pottery to create a tile showing their face. I'm looking forward to seeing these when they have been glazed and fired!
I'd also like to remind you about our welcome back meeting for parents of children in Base 3. This will take place in school at 6pm on Wednesday 12th September. Miss Rodriguez and I will be sharing information about routines, homework, expectations and the year ahead. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions.
If you would rather catch up at another time or with more privacy, please grab me on the playground to arrange an appointment or leave a message for me via the school office - 01159748088 or contact @crossdale.notts.sch.uk.
I'll add another post tomorrow with some photographs from our first week together!
