Wonderful Writing

WB: 2.10.23
Published 02/10/23, by Claire JonesHere is your weekly homework post with general messages and reminders for the week and about homework.
WoW! I have loved looking at the homework this week - amazing models, menus and story-telling activities. I am pleased the children could confidently retell our class text to you - I am pleased you liked listening to them retell this and talk of our story tool kit. This week we are recycling that story, so I will be sure to share what they've done with you at the end of the week.
*Your 'special homework' for this week is to think about autumn and the signs that it has arrived. It definitely feels like we are moving into the colder months!
*Spelling activity in homework books is a handwriting task. We have been teaching children to slide from the line so if you can help to encourage them with this, that will really help them to practise.
*Please listen to your child read at least 3 x a week - books are swapped on Mondays and Thursdays.
*Try to stay in the green zone on doodle by completing your '5 a day' and your assignments. Hopefully, this is a quick activity for your child - it really does make such a difference to their maths fluency, so thanks for your support.
*Login to Spelling Shed to play games linked to our spellings. New words should appear today. This week our words have the /ch/ sound. These will be taught on Monday in school and returned to each day as part of our English teaching. Our words this week: chip, chick, catch, fetch, kitchen, notch, hutch, rich, such.
*Please ensure your forest schools kit including wellies are in school on Mondays and that PE kit is in school on Mondays and Fridays. Please feel free to leave kit in school now that we have our lovely, new cloakrooms where we have plenty of storage!
*We are getting excited for our trip to Tamworth on Wednesday 11th October. If you haven't filled in lunch choices, please do so that we are ready with lunch orders. Just to confirm: children will need to wear school uniform, have a coat and be suitable dressed for any kind of weather we may get. Please bring a water bottle for the day as well. Children will be walking from the car park to the castle which is a short distance so you could send your child with a small bag to carry all of their belongings. When we get to the castle, we can leave bags and coats in the Great Hall so they won't be carrying them all day.
