Homework Blog 04.03.24
Hello,
I hope you're all enjoying a great weekend. It is another busy week ahead with book week so I wanted to get in early to talk about what is happening this week. Keep an eye on the blog this week for photos of some of our lovely activities. In Year One we have started Book Club - we do this weekly and rotate the children that we focus on in our discussions around book choice. The children have thoroughly enjoyed it the past few weeks and have talked so much about their favourite books. Over the next few weeks, Mrs Morgan and I will be sprucing up the book corner and we look forward to sharing this with you at the end of the term when you are invited to parents evening.
Huge well done to all the children who have completed their topic homework already. I've been really impressed by the variety and quality of homework. The children are enjoying finding out about Florence Nightingale; thanks for all your support. This week in topic we had a good look at the non-fiction books in our classroom to find out more facts. These are now on our display board and are a very impressive display of knowledge from across the class.
LIBRARY visit - Thank you to all the parents who have said they can help walk us to the library and back. I will email you separately to confirm. Our trip is on Tuesday 5th March @2:30pm. We will aim to leave school just after 2pm. ALL children must have their LIBRARY cards for this if they wish to borrow a book; without them, they will be unable to take a book home with them. Please send these in either Monday or Tuesday next week and I will carry them to the library and return them back to your child when we return to school to go home with you.
Our dress up as a book character is next Thursday (7th March) and we have lots of other lovely things happening in school to celebrate reading.
CHURCH trip - Time Travelling - Tuesday 19th March 12:55pm - 3:05pm. Again, thanks for the additional parent support to help with this visit by walking to and from the church in Keyworth and accompanying us. We will have an early lunch for this and aim to leave Crossdale just before 12:30pm. There is a payment on SchoolMoney for a contribution towards the resources used at the church.
*Your 'special homework' this week will be in homework books and returned to you on Tuesday, as usual.
*Spelling activity this week is linked to week 3: split digraphs i-e and o-e. Our ten words this week are: five, ride, like, time, side, home, those, woke, hope, hole.
*Please listen to your child read at least 3 time a week and try to stay in the green zone on doodle by completing your '5 a day' and your assignments. Short and frequent returns to learning really helps to consolidate knowledge!
