Homework WB 11/09/23

Hello,

Welcome to your first weekly homework blog. Each week on a Monday (or thereabouts!) I will update you with general messages and reminders for the week and about homework. I hope you've enjoyed your new, purple homework books - hopefully, like me, you enjoy having everything clear and in one place. The children have been really excited to share with me that they've been busy playing games with you and learning their spellings so I know they have been underway with their weekly jobs.

*Your 'special homework' for this week is to talk to your child about what they've enjoyed so far in Year 1 - I am sure there are lots of things they would like to share with you. Purple books will be updated and come home with you on Tuesday.

*Please listen to your child read at least 3 x a week - books are swapped on Mondays and Thursdays.

*Try to stay in the green zone on doodle by completing your '5 a day' and your assignments (this week you have been working hard on doodle and many of you have gained lots of stars - keep it up, you are amazing!)

*Login to Spelling Shed to play games linked to our spellings (wow - the children were so excited to be on this and I can see many of you have been really busy - great job, Starlings!).

Our new spelling words are: well, pull, full, wall, buzz, fizz, back, stick, flick, pal. These will be taught on Monday in school and the games available from Monday.

*Please ensure your forest schools kit including wellies are in school on Mondays and that PE kit is in school on Mondays and Fridays. Please feel free to leave kit in school now that we have our lovely, new cloakrooms where we have plenty of storage!

*This week I will be teaching the children on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Mrs McGinley and I have swapped our day on Wednesday, so she will be there to greet the children then. I've already told her about our super week last week, and she is most excited! Remember that Friday is an INSET day.

*PTA film night - if you haven't signed up and would like to, please do so using the PTA link.

*Base meeting is Tuesday 19th - we look forward to welcoming you then and answering any other questions you have.

*Please keep an eye out for the payment available on School Money for Tamworth Castle. That will go on later in the week now that we have finalised our coach. There will be a consent button for you to use to allow your child to attend this trip which is on School Money, too.

I think that's about all. I will see you in the morning with your purple books ready to pass to me.
