They've Hatched!

After weeks of watching our caterpillars grow and then change into chrysalides, the moment came today when the chrysalides hatched out into their butterflies! We were very excited to see these after weeks of watching them change and learning about the process. The children did a fantastic job of discussing what had happened and the transformation that had taken place. They used some amazing scientific vocabulary in their writing and when talking about their observations, with words such as meconium, chrysalides and haemolymph. If you see any autumnal moths around over half term then they they will also have hatched out of chrysalides - these may have fallen to the floor. Well done for all your amazing facts that people have shared on SeeSaw.
