SPELLING BEE

Spelling Bee Information
After the half-term break, we will be hosting a Spelling Bee across school. This is a fun competition where children will learn words from the National Curriculum to spell. Children will be tested on these each week and will move through the rounds. We will host the final round in an assembly!
All children will be recognised for taking part, and we want to emphasise that this is a fun way for children to learn the important words that they will use frequently every day in Year 3 and Year 4. We have already learnt quite a few of these words as part of our weekly spellings in Year 3, so this will be a good way to revisit some of these words.
I have attached the list of words to this blog (Spelling Bee Words). We won't be testing children on these words until the second week back after half-term, so there is plenty of time to get practising! Furthermore, children in Year 3 will only be tested on half of these words for the first round. We have split the list horizontally, so children will need to learn the words up to and including the row beginning with 'mention'. If children want to, they can learn all the words!
I have also attached a list of fun ways to practice and learn these spellings at home! The key is to practice little and often to ensure they are remembered.
