Homework This week

Homework and reminders for this week:

Your weekly spelling and ‘special homework’ activity can be found in your child’s purple book which will come home with you on Tuesday.

*On Thursday we have Jenni from Keyworth Wild Things coming to school. She is going to talk to us about caring for hedgehogs throughout the seasons which is part of our science national curriculum learning. I will blog some photos of this in due course but please do ensure your child has their forest schools kit with them on Thursday so that we can go out and access all of the grounds. This will be an enjoyable and fun session and the last of our science visitors as part of our science week.

*Our spelling rules this week relates to the digraph ‘oo’ – but as both the short and long vowel pronounciation. All the children have covered these sounds in their phonics lessons so all should be really confident to use this for both reading and spelling.

*I have included some squared paper to help with the robot activity this week as the ‘special homework’.

*Try to keep in the green zone on doodle by using it every day. There are assignments set every few days to help keep our learning in class really fresh. I have set these periodically to return to concepts a few days / weeks / months from teaching deliberately to build that confident knowledge. Penguins are top users of this app – we have some wonderful ‘streaks’ and so many children with many, many stars!

*Ensure your child reads regularly to an adult. Please keep the book bag books for a few days so that your child can re-read the text. This helps to build fluency and they will be able to show you their story voice! Don’t forget to fill in your reading journeys to keep track of what you are reading and so that we can celebrate at school with a trip to the office for a sticker!

*Topic homework – due by the end of the half term

*Really pleased to have so much positive feedback about the Penguins assembly last week – thank you for attending if you were able to. The children have worked hard in topic and science this half term and I think it shows just how knowledgeable they are!

All of your other, whole school updates can be found on the Crossdale News blog. We hope you like the new format!

Have a super week, Mrs Jones.
