Weekly Homework Blog

Homework this week:

Your weekly spelling and ‘special homework’ activity can be found in your child’s purple book which will come home with you on Tuesday.

*Our spelling rules this week relates to split vowels ‘o-e’ and ‘i-e’ – the children will know these as ‘o-e, phone home’ and ‘i-e, nice smile’. If your child is confident when doing their spelling homework, you could give them a little quiz to check they can spell and apply their words, or ask them to apply this to their own sentence.

*Try to keep in the green zone on doodle by using it every day. There are assignments set every few days to help keep our learning in class really fresh. I have set these periodically to return to concepts a few days / weeks / months from teaching deliberately to build that confident knowledge.

*Ensure your child reads regularly to an adult. Please keep the book bag books for a few days so that your child can re-read the text. This helps to build fluency and they will be able to show you their story voice!

*Topic homework – due by the end of the term

*One more super science competition to make you aware of ahead of science week! If you would like to make a catapult using junk modelling materials (boxes and straws that you might have at home then please do so before 17th March and send it into school). The focus will be on: directional focus, ability to launch a red now as far as possible (and be able to use it again!). Good luck everyone!

All of your other, whole school updates can be found on the Crossdale News blog. We hope you like the new format!
