  • HOMEWORK OF THE WEEK (18.12.23)

    Published 15/12/23, by Rosie Jackson

Please find attached this week's spellings for the next spelling test (08.01.24). I thought I would send these in preparation for the holidays (ALL online) but also give you some extra time to learn these due to the hectic time of year. I appreciate you will all be rushed off your feet and the Christmas chaos will be ongoing, therefore to make things easier I haven't stuck in any sheets. However, please do try to continue keeping your child's learning fresh where you are able to, even if it is slightly different and Christmas-themed (reading books etc.). Keep going with the Doodle Maths activities already set and Spelling Shed now that I have uploaded the new spellings attached/online. I have also provided some children with Phonics link videos to interact with, as well as a Christmas-themed handwriting pack to help support presentation. Lastly, do encourage your child to write a Christmas diary (this is why their homework book has been sent back home) of their magical time shared with friends and family as we would love to hear some of the exciting things the children got up to.

Have a great last (short) week.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    - Miss Jackson

  • HOMEWORK OF THE WEEK (11.12.23)

    Published 08/12/23, by Rosie Jackson

Our final full week of autumn term is here! Thank you for your continued support with homework and help around school. The children have worked so hard and are ready to share their Christmas Concert with you tomorrow!

Instead of a test next Monday, I have set a creative task for your child to complete and share with us during 'Show and Tell' afternoons. Please allow your child to choose some spellings (using your homework book or reading journal pages) they have found tricky this autumn 2. They are then to present new and different ways of practising these spellings at home. I have added in some examples for you so your child is inspired to think creatively. For Maths, there is a shape activity which shouldn't take your child too long to finish and complete (the majority of it) independently as they have worked really well at understanding our 2D shape unit. Please continue with reading at home as well as Doodlemaths and Spelling Shed for a few minutes at a time. Again, most of these online tasks are set so your child is able to complete these by themselves.

    Have a great week!

  • DT DAY

    Published 05/12/23, by Rosie Jackson

Take a look at our latest DT Day where Base One made a variety of puppets. The children really enjoyed the process of planning, designing and then making their creations. They worked really hard by researching different designs and understood the step-by-step method of joining materials using a needle and thread. It was very challenging but they sure persevered. Well done Base One.

Thank you again to volunteers to help make this day special. We really wouldn't be able to carry out our DT Days without your help. It is very much appreciated.

Please find attached this week's spellings for next Monday's spelling test (20.11.23). This week's spelling rule focusses on words that end in -il or -al. As always, thank you for your ongoing commitment to ensure your child's learning remains continuous. We always look forward to 'Show and Tell' Mondays.

For this week, your child has only one spelling activity sheet (to be completed independently) and a Maths sheet (with some parental guidance for those children which require extra support). Both of these shouldn't take your child too long to finish and complete (the majority of it) independently. I have only provided one spelling activity as I encourage you to continue using Spelling Shed as much as possible. Please continue with reading at home as well as Doodlemaths (set assignments on Fridays). Again, most of these online tasks are set so your child is able to complete these by themselves.

As a reminder of a previous blog post, your child came home with a Castles Topic homework sheet. Children are to complete at least one of the activities and for this to be shared by 15/12/23. As the children have really enjoyed their Castles topic, we have provided a list of activities for your child to choose from and complete at least one before the deadline date.

  • HOMEWORK OF THE WEEK (30.10.23)

    Published 01/11/23, by Rosie Jackson

    Hello,

I hope you're enjoying your holidays so far. In preparation for Monday's spelling test (06.11.23) please find the attached list to ensure your child is able to keep practising in their homework book.

Thank you for the continued support this half-term in ensuring your child completes their weekly homework tasks.

*Please listen to your child read at least 3 time a week. Please use the phonics links sent to you (if applies) as a way to keep phonics learning fresh and secure.

*Try to stay in the green zone on doodle by completing your '5 a day' and your assignments. Hopefully, this is a quick activity for your child - it really does make such a difference to their maths fluency and helps their maths to become more automatic.

*Please ensure your forest schools kit including wellies are in school on Fridays and that PE kit is in school on Mondays and Fridays. Please feel free to leave kit in school now that we have our lovely, new cloakrooms where we have plenty of storage!

    Miss Jackson
