Autumn 1 - Scrumdiddlyumptious

Year 3 Autumn 1 Learning Overview

Hello Lime Class & Welcome to Year Three!

We are very excited to launch our first topic of the year, which is called 'Scrumdiddlyumptious'. A word invented by Roald Dahl and made famous in the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – which we will be reading throughout the half-term.

We’re going to enjoy a yummy journey of discovery, sampling fantastic fruits and tantalising treats! This half-term, we will be using our senses to investigate different foods. In art, we will be looking closely at fruits and vegetables, sketching what we can see and then bringing our designs to life using clay. We’ll also follow recipes in DT to create our very own smoothies! In topic, we’ll learn about where our food comes from and also about the fascinating discoveries made by the physicist James Lind. Our science work will focus on the different food groups and how our bodies keep us healthy.

Please see attached below our topic homework, spelling overview, curriculum map and our knowledge organisers for this half-term.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Many Thanks,

Mr Dring
