My Maths Homework

I have created some online homework on mymaths for your child to do. Each child has personalised work - what I think they need to further practise to improve their maths. It would really help your child if you could work through these tasks with them. Some tasks have a week deadline; others have until Feb half term.

We have been learning our 2, 5 and 10 times tables at school since Christmas. The children were really good at understanding the number sentences and working out what they need to do to find the answer and drawing the pictures to correspond. We will continue to work on this for the next few weeks so any practise you do at home will benefit greatly (counting coins in 2ps, 5ps and 10ps is a great idea!).

Below is copy of the national curriculum for this aspect of maths which I hope you will find useful in order to know what children need to do by the end of Year Two.

Number - multiplication and division

Pupils should be taught to:

  • recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables, including recognising odd and even numbers
  • calculate mathematical statements for multiplication and division within the multiplication tables and write them using the multiplication (×), division (÷) and equals (=) signs
  • show that multiplication of 2 numbers can be done in any order (commutative) and division of 1 number by another cannot
  • solve problems involving multiplication and division, using materials, arrays, repeated addition, mental methods, and multiplication and division facts, including problems in contexts.
