Reading Assessment Update

This week we will be completing our reading assessments for the summer term. Please keep an eye out for this updated information in your child's Reading Journey Book - which we will endeavour to have ready for the end of the week. It has been a busy one so please be patient if this rolls into next week!

We will be encouraging your child to take several books home for the holidays and please also remember that www.oxfordowls.co.uk have some fantastic texts, all free, and completely linked to our book banding. Also, the library reading challenge is a really motivating task for children to participate in and the library has many texts linked to book bands as well as lovely picture books to enjoy together.

Come and discuss any of the above with either myself or Mrs Payne and we will be happy to guide you through it.

Spellings Week 6

Hello,

This is the last week of organised spellings for Year 1. I've attached some activities for this week and these will go home on Monday next week.

I will endeavour to create between 10 and 20 spelling words for each child for the summer holidays. These will be personalised to your child and will come from the core spelling words for Year 1. These spellings are words that are expected to be spelt correctly by the end of Year 1. If your child can already spell these words then I will look at some of the Year 2 list with a view to preparation for the academic year ahead.

Bear with me as this will take some preparation as I look through their different writing and topic books to find their individual words.
