Doodlemaths
Published 25/06/19, by Claire JonesFor various reasons, it has taken a while for us to be able to sort accounts out for the children in Y1. However, we do now have passwords and these will be going home with you by the end of the week.
It is really important that the children complete the initial assessments independently and use this by themselves as much as possible: the website is set up to react to how the children get on. If they are supported then these questions and they score correctly, it will be deemed as understood so the app will not continue to set practice questions. If a child persistently gets a question type incorrect then the app will set more of these type in order to help them to move on and develop their speed.
It's a fantastic maths resource and the children will be really motivated to use it.
Details to follow!

Maths lesson: Cha cha slide
Published 21/06/19, by Claire JonesWow, what a lot of fun we had last week in maths learning the cha cha slide!
As well as being a lot of fun, we had learning at the heart. We have been practising using directional and positional vocabulary so this was a great opportunity to reinforce 'left', 'right', 'backwards' and 'side'.
Also, last week we found out about full, half, quarter and three quarter turns so hopefully your child has come home talking enthusiastically about these. We enjoyed playing Simon Says and following instructions.
Here is the link to the video we saw (just in case you want to dust off your trainers and have a go!): https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Cha-Cha+Slide+Original+Version&&view=detail&mid=AF311DC144F0727C42D0AF311DC144F0727C42D0&&FORM=VRDGAR

Talent Show - Friday
Published 04/06/19, by Claire JonesA lot of Y1 have asked to be involved in the talent show and I can see they have all been practising hard! Tomorrow we will vote using our British Values - democracy - and choose just 3 acts to go through to the finals on Friday. We have discussed how this is the only fair way to do this and all the children will get a vote. The top 3 acts with the most votes will go through to the final at the end of the week. We have linked this to our recent polling days, too, and explained that this is what grown ups do.
I hope nobody is too disappointed tomorrow and this really is the last chance to practise. See you tomorrow!
