  • Phonics Screening Test

    Hello all,

    We have had a really busy few weeks practising reading all of the sounds we have learnt (basically since starting school!).  We have been playing games, sorting alien and real words, reading lists and doing some small group work. Just to keep things ticking over during the holidays, I am sending some practise words and activities for you to go through with your child. As well as helping your child to prepare for the screening, this is enabling them to revise a whole lot of things they've learnt to aid them to be a better reader. We really appreciate your support and as always, pop in if you have any questions.

    The National Phonics Screening for Y1 children will be happening during the week beginning 10th June.

  • Spelling week beg 13.5.19

    Hi,

    This week our spellings will all be air and are words.

    I have attached a word search and this will come home tomorrow with your child. However, if you'd like a different activity then you could use these words within a sentence. Remember to encourage children to slide from the line, start their sentence with a capital and use correct punctuation - these are our Y1 non-negotiables!

    I have swapped around this week and next week's words because it fits in with other areas of learning. Next week's words will be au and aw words. Another word search is included (because I have had really positive feedback on how much children have been enjoying these), however an alternative activity for next week is to write the words using rainbow writing, bubble writing, capital letters etc or in whatever creative way your child might like to present them. This word search will come home with you next week, as usual.

  • My Maths

    I've just set a further 6 weeks worth of activities for mymaths. You should all have your passwords and be able to access these resources. I've included work on multiplication - which we have just covered in school and hopefully the children are fresh with! The activities and tasks on this website should really help to consolidate what your child has learnt at school and it is beneficial to go over some of these facts together.

    Thanks to all the regular users! I can see that a few of you haven't yet logged it; please come and chat to either myself or Mrs Payne if you have any username queries and we can help you. You should have a copy in your RJB and a paper copy from parent's evening.
