Reading and Phonics Assessments
Published 07/02/19, by Claire JonesIt is already time to re-assess the children in terms of phonics and reading! This will start next week so please ensure your child's Reading Journey Book is in school so that we can update the information. As well as informing you about their new phonic group and book band level, we will also let you know where they are up to in terms of their Tricky Tracker words. This is an important element in learning to read so we are keen to get the children learning these asap. If your child can already read these words and has completed TT8 then we will inform you about how they are getting on with their spelling. We will be able to provide you with the next words they need to practise spelling so that you are able to support us at home. Look out for this in their RJ Books over half term.
As ever, please let us know if you have any queries.
Mrs Jones.

Reading Express
Published 06/02/19, by Claire JonesThanks to everyone for having a go on Reading Eggs and Reading Express. This really is a fun way to help your child develop their reading skills. I have set another 2 assignments; one spelling and the other a reading book (The Hare and the Tortoise). Your child might need some guidance to complete the reading and spelling, but they might be able to have a good go themselves. I have set this to be completed by 24.2.19. This is optional, but something to help keep you going with reading over the holidays, which I know a lot of parents appreciate.

Spellings for Spring Term 2
Published 06/02/19, by Claire JonesI'm getting very organised for after half term! Here is the overview of words we will learn after the half term holiday. We already look at these words several times during the week but after the holidays, we will be doing a 'look/cover/write/check' three times a week - usually after lunch. There will also be an informal 'quiz' for some of the children during the week. Thanks for all your support in learning spellings already. I am really impressed with how well the children are learning and applying these words in their writing.

Internet Safety Day
Published 06/02/19, by Claire JonesWe have read a story about Smartie the Penguin (available on kidsmart website). He has lots of choices to make about staying safe when using the internet. The children have thought about something they learnt and we have been singing the safety song all afternoon! See what the children can tell you about how to keep safe online.
