Autumn 2 fun!

As Autumn 2 draws to a close, I wanted to share some of the exciting things we have been up to this half-term.

The children have really enjoyed learning about WW1 in our History topic. At the start of the half-term, we went on a trip to Keyworth War Memorial and Church where we learnt about how Keyworth was impacted by WW1. In class, we learnt about how the war began, key sites on the Western Front, life on the home front and in the trenches, as well as important weapons and technology and how WW1 ended.

We also enjoyed learning about Forces in our Science topic. There were plenty of opportunities for us to work scientifically by planning experiments to explore the impacts of gravity, air resistance and water resistance, as well as exploring how mechanisms give us a mechanical advantage.

In English, the children explored themes in WW1 poems and worked hard to write their own. In the final part of the half-term, we also learnt about autobiographies and wrote one of our own.

We have also made wire and tissue paper poppies in art, created vector images in computing and, of course, did plenty of singing for our fabulous Christmas concert!

We have certainly had a brilliant few weeks! Take a look below at some photos which highlight more of what we have been up to...

Have a lovely, restful Christmas break.

Miss Spencer :)
