Y2 Phonics Screening Check

Hello Maple Parents,

Some of you might be aware that all children in Y2 are required to take the National Phonics Screening Check in this half term. Normally this is a formal assessment that children take in June of Year 1 but as school was not open in the same capacity in June, Maple Class and other Y1 children around the country did not do this. It is necessary for us to now do this (alongside all other Y2 children in the country) to check to see whether children are meeting the appropriate standard in phonics decoding. 

Please find here a link to a short presentation informing you about this. I hope you find it useful but if you do have any questions then please do ask myself or Mrs Payne. We will be doing lots of practise in school and indeed the children are already familiar with both alien and real words. 

We will be able to send out some alien and real words each week to help you prepare at home.
