kATIE IN LONDON WRITING TASK

Dear Maple Class,

We hope you have had a good week at home. Mrs Westie has been in school this week being very busy and Mrs Morgan has been working at home getting some more home learning ready for you. We have both loved hearing what you have been up to and it has been great to see your smiley faces in the photos that have been sent in.

This week the Oak National Academy English lessons have been based around the wonderful book Katie in London. It tells the tale of Katie and her little brother Jack who get to explore the amazing sights of London on the back of a lion!

For our writing task this week you don’t have to have done the Oak National Academy lessons but you might want to go back and have a go at some of them. They really are a good resource and the teacher Miss Browne is lovely. Each lesson will cover phonics, spelling and an English activity with a reading or writing focus.

Imagine that you are on a day out in a busy place like London or Nottingham and you see a lion walking past with two children sat on it’s back. Explain how you might feel about this. You could write your feeling into a diary entry.

What did you see?

How did you feel about it?

Remember…

  • Capital letters to start sentences and for proper nouns
  • Full stops at the end of each sentence
  • Descriptive words
  • Joining words

We would love to see your writing so please send it to our maple class teacher’s email if you can.

Take care,

Mrs Morgan and Mrs Westie
